Who created the website?

Behind the SAKRAKOPEC.SK project is Pavol Bayer, a longtime aviation enthusiast and author of a book dedicated to the tragedy of TABSO Flight IL-18 from 1966. He has been close to aviation since childhood, in 2015 he built the first Boeing 737 flight simulator in Slovakia and co-founded the first Slovak aviation podcast.

He became more intensively interested in the Sakrakopec crash approximately fifty years after the tragedy, when he discovered that many unverified claims about its causes and crew still persisted among people. He therefore decided to search for answers in period documents, archives, specialized publications, and other available sources. The result of several years of investigation became a book and subsequently the SAKRAKOPEC.SK project. Its goal is to preserve the memory of the 82 victims and make accessible to the public the most accurate picture possible of the events that unfolded on 26 November 1966.
